This Privacy Policy explains how Quarto Publishing Group USA Inc. (“Quarto,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit, shop from, or interact with our U.S. Shopify store at shopus.quarto.com.

This Privacy Policy applies only to our U.S. Shopify store. It does not apply to quarto.com, quartoknows.com, or other Quarto websites operated separately or jointly with other Quarto group companies.

How We Use Information

Shopify

Our store is hosted and operated using Shopify. Shopify processes personal information when you visit, browse, or purchase from our store in order to provide ecommerce, checkout, payment, security, analytics, and related services.

If Shopify Network Intelligence or similar Shopify enhanced services are enabled, Shopify may process customer data together with data from interactions with Shopify, our store, and other merchants to provide services such as fraud prevention, personalization, analytics, improved store performance, and advertising-related features.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to prevent fraud or security issues, to enforce our terms, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, sale, reorganization, or asset transfer.

Sensitive Information

We do not intend to collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, precise geolocation, health information, biometric identifiers, or similar sensitive data through our standard Shopify store.

Because we sell books across many topics, browsing activity, purchase history, or search activity could suggest interests related to sensitive topics. We do not use this information to infer sensitive characteristics except as permitted by law.

Retention

We retain personal information as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including transactions, customer service, legal compliance, fraud prevention, accounting, tax, dispute resolution, and business operations.

As a general approach, we may retain order and transaction records for up to 7 years, customer service records for up to 3 years, marketing records until unsubscribe or no longer needed, advertising and analytics data according to applicable tool settings, and privacy request records as needed to demonstrate compliance.

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We do not currently use SMS marketing. If we add SMS marketing later, we will provide additional notice and obtain any required consent.

Our Shopify store is intended for a general audience and is designed for use by adults, including parents, guardians, educators, librarians, retailers, and other purchasers of books.
